A good idea deserves its context.
Ideas rarely arrive on their own. They come from conversations, things we read, and moments that stay with us. A short excerpt can open the door, but the surrounding context is part of what makes it useful.
A useful excerpt carries enough context for the next reader to understand the point. The original source lets them follow the thought further.
Your annotation adds another layer: why this part mattered to you. It might be a question, a connection to your work, or something you want to discuss. The note does not need to be long. It needs to be yours.
Keep the connection.
When you share an annotation, keep the passage and the source together. Someone else can read your take, open the original, and arrive at their own understanding.
