“A useful excerpt carries enough context for the next reader to understand the point.”
Your take, right beside the passage.
Original source attachedOne small capture. The whole idea.

1. Add Annotated to Chrome.
Install the public extension from the Chrome Web Store.
Open the Chrome Web Store2. Keep it within reach.
Open Chrome’s extensions menu—the puzzle-piece button—and pin Annotated to your toolbar.
3. Select a passage.
Highlight the part you want to keep on a regular webpage. Our short practice article is a good place to start.
Open the practice article4. Open Annotated and add your take.
Click its toolbar icon, accept the first-run disclosure, and capture the selection. Write a note or record your thoughts. Choose Review & share when ready.
There’s a moment version, too.
Open a video or podcast, capture its position, and choose a short range. Recording the source clip is a separate action: confirm your sharing rights, then press Record. You can review the result before publishing.
If something gets in the way.
The extension cannot read this page.
Chrome’s own pages and some restricted websites do not allow capture. Open a regular webpage, select the text, and click Annotated’s toolbar icon again. Opening a pasted URL alone does not grant capture access.
I’m not ready to publish.
Keep the draft in the extension. It autosaves in this Chrome profile. Opening review does not make it public; publication is a separate action after sign-in.
I’m testing an unreleased build.
The Store button above installs the public release. A newer review build may require manual installation.
